Our Offerings
After a short initial complementary phone consultation, an on-site visit can be scheduled with a licensed landscape architect to review site opportunities and constraints, site parameters, and client wishes to start to determine what might be possible for your space!
Review site specific conditions, including topography, sun aspect, wind conditions, and existing vegetation and building styles to determine what to emphasize/keep or remove/hide. Determine best views from inside and outside property, and if visual screening is necessary. Site design may include hardscape and built elements, planting design, and conceptual lighting design. We will get to know you and design something that works best for your space and budget.
We can source plants and materials, identify contractors, and oversee construction and landscape installation. We are able to phase projects to bring flexibility regarding the client’s needs and budgets, and keep track of contractors’ invoicing.

Terra Soma Landscape Architecture is a landscape architecture design studio based in Glassell Park in Northeast Los Angeles (NELA) specializing in habitat-rich landscapes designed for the future that can bring life back into our often overbuilt yards.
Taken from the Latin word for earth, Terra, and the Greek word for the human body, Soma, our studio acknowledges that humans, animals, and our terrestrial environments are intimately intertwined and can be designed in harmony with one another. In Southern California, we can spend nearly every day outside in comfort, and we create spaces that bring function, joy, wonder, play, movement, and a sense of deep fulfillment to one of your most important spaces.
Our design team believes that your home is the center of your life and the environment surrounding you should reflect your passions, interests, and priorities. Your yard is also home to countless native species and we’d like to design for them, too! Even small spaces matter and can bring ecological value to our world; your outdoor world can be an inviting space and be a net positive for the environment. We are flexible and curious and avoid having a *set* style and prefer to honor the spaces we encounter and let the conditions there speak to us. We make thoughtful spaces that work and are unique to you and your exact environment.
